Kimberley Coast Fishing - Western Australia

The Northern Kimberley coast is one of the most spectacular wilderness coastlines in the world. This remote area of Australia is a mix of pristine beaches, towering gorges, reefs rich with marine life, mangrove lined estuaries and of course fantastic fishing. Most of these great fishing areas are inaccessible by road and few facilities exist.

You can be one of the few privileged people to visit this area aboard our 20 metre, fully air-conditioned catamaran on a seven day fishing cruise that starts and finishes in Broome. This will be one fishing adventure you will boast about for a long time to come.

This pristine environment is the home of a myriad of wildlife and marine life and over 50 species of fish are regularly caught here.

The legendary Barramundi inhabits the rivers and estuaries in abundance along with Mangrove Jack, Threadfin Salmon and others. Spanish Mackerel, Fingermark, Giant Trevally, Golden Trevally, Cobia, Queenfish, Tuna, Shark ,Snapper, Emperor, Cod, Coral Trout are some of the more commonly landed species around inshore reefs beaches.

The best time to fish the Kimberley coast is between May and November. The wet season has finished and the weather is at its most stable. Clear sunny days always around 30 degrees with plenty of time to explore a multitude of fishing environments. There are 14 departures between May and November.

The cruise starts and finishes in Broome and visits Yampi Sound, Shark Alley, Doubtful Bay, Ruby Falls, Three ways and Montgomery Reef just to name a few places. Along the way enjoy fantastic and varied fishing from the mother ship or fully equipped and purpose built tenders.

Accommodation

The mother ship is a fully air conditioned, 20 metre aluminum catamaran. It has 12 beds in 6 twin or double cabins and none of them are bunk beds. Two of the cabins have en suites. All cabins have reading lights and personal safes and large windows allowing an abundance of light and great views.

The modern stainless steel galley and the professional crew will turn out sumptuous meals to be enjoyed in the comfortable dining saloon area. With 3 decks, you will find ample room to stretch out and relax while taking in the spectacular sights our Kimberley has on offer.

There is also an extensive variety of books, games and movies available for your enjoyment. We have a laptop on board for you to download your photos and burn to CD (we recommend you bring your USB camera cord). Satellite phone and fax equipment are available for guests use at competitive prices.

Guides and boats

The fishing tenders are custom built to suit the Kimberley coastline and waterways. The guides are resident professionals who live in the Kimberley and fish these waters on a regular basis. There is ample opportunity to escape into the estuaries, reefs and beaches to fish and you can also fish from the mother ship.

Equipment

All the gear is provided on board but guests are welcome to bring along your favourite outfits. Limited fly fishing gear is available and keen fly fishers might like to bring their own customized equipment.

Other activities

  • Wildlife Spotting
  • Rock art tours
  • Swimming
  • Bush walking

Other destinations

Broome is a leisurely frontier beachside resort town that today has an air of sophistication about it but still has managed to retain much of its tropical and historic ambience. It is a perfect place to spend a few days. The town is surrounded by thousands of miles of wilderness featuring flood plains, waterfalls, gorges, beaches, islands and a rich diversity of topical wildlife and marine life. There are a number of touring, accommodation, cultural, sporting, dining and shopping opportunities available.
